Members of the Waseca Police Department along with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will discuss what happened the night of January 6, 2020 when Officer Arik Matson was gravely shot in the head.  Arik and Megan Matson will be speaking on their journey of healing and will be available to answer questions.

Dave “J.D. Buck Savage” Smith’s The Winning Mind is one of the most remarkable training experiences that law enforcement and civilian personnel will ever attend.  In this summation, Dave and his wife Sgt. Betsy Smith will review the key components of peak performance, including who wins and why, the role that optimism plays in our personal and professional lives, and how individuals and organizations can make themselves truly resilient. The Science of Communication will be emphasized throughout as Dave and Betsy present an entertaining & inspiring program designed to help everyone, regardless of their experience, optimize their odds of winning any confrontation and living their most optimistic life.

 
Day 3 of the Conference May 19th, 2021

8am to Noon Wellness/Trauma/PTSD

On May 25th, 2020 an in custody death in Minneapolis sparked nationwide civil unrest.  Retired Minneapolis Lieutenant Kim Lund will talk about what officers dealt with on the front lines in the Minneapolis Third Precinct and what loosing that Precinct to “peaceful protesters” meant to the officers of the Third Precinct.  Sgt. Catherine Michal will walk you through the healing process for sworn and non-sworn city employees and discuss the resources available after an event has occurred.
